Doyle Gene Crain's Obituary
Doyle Gene Crain 88, of Columbus, KS died 3:50am Thursday June 4, 2026 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Columbus, KS following a short illness.
Doyle was born February 19, 1938 in Columbus, KS the son of Clifford Lloyd and Mary Jane (Wilcox) Crain. He was life long resident of Columbus and a graduate of Columbus High School.
On July 3, 1959 Doyle married Karlyn Handshy in Columbus, KS; she preceded him in death on August 20, 2024. Doyle worked as the Petroleum Manager for the Columbus COOP for over 40 years. Doyle was a member of the Church of Christ in Columbus, KS; he enjoyed fishing, hunting trips to Western Kansas; Pheasant and Prairie Dog Hunting; shelling pecans and visiting friends.
Survivors include his children Kimberly Beckham and husband Paul of Columbus, KS and Jeff Crain and wife Kim of Columbus, KS; brothers Lyman Crain of Columbus, KS and Lloyd Crain and wife Shirley of Columbus, KS; grandchildren Misty Spear and husband Jay of Columbus, KS, Curtis Watkins of Columbus, KS, Kandice Ediger and husband Joel of Columbus, KS, Jeremy Crain of Columbus, KS and Josh Crain of Columbus, KS and great-grandchildren Keegan Harris, Cole Watkins, Clay Watkins, Cody Ediger, Hailey Ediger and Connor Crain.
Memorial Services will be 10:00am Saturday June 13, 2026 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, KS. Burial of cremains will be private at the McKee Cemetery west of Columbus, KS. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Columbus Public Library. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 611 S.
