Dorothy M. (Maxwell) Parmele's Obituary
Dorothy M. (Maxwell) Parmele, 95 of Desoto, MO died Thursday August 8, 2024 at the Hillcrest Care center in Desoto.
She was born October 22, 1928 in Weir, KS the daughter of John and Marie (Sayer) Dugger. She attended area schools and graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1945. On August 3, 1947 she was united in marriage to J.T. Maxwell in Weir, he preceded her in death on June 27, 1991. She later married James Parmele on November 25, 2000 and he also preceded her in death on March 31, 2002.
Dorothy was an accountant for Trans World Airlines for 22 years retiring in 1984; she later worked as a travel agent for AAA in Pittsburg for 8 years leaving there in 1992.
She was a member of the Fabian United Methodist Church of Gladstone MO; additional memberships include the Order of the Eastern Star of Weir and the American Legion Auxiliary also of Weir.
Survivors include her children: Jane Crow (Paul) Desoto, MO, IL, Karen Stoehr (Richard) of Martin, TN, Neal Maxwell (Dianne) KC, MO; a sister Marion Hartshorn of Pittsburg, KS; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 3 children: Patricia Walters, Vernon Maxwell and Dorothy Woodard, a sister Wilma Jones and 2 great grandchildren.
Memorial graveside service will be 12 noon, Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Hosey Hill Cemetery with Pastor Duane Elmore officiating. Memorials may be to the American Red Cross; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
