Dorothy Aline Byrd's Obituary
Dorothy Aline Byrd 80, of Frontenac, KS died 10:50pm Friday August 18, 2023 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS following an illness.
Dorothy was born November 21, 1942 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of James H. and Lena M. (Smith) Bevans. She attended and graduated from Pittsburg Schools. Dorothy worked many years in retail including Walmart and ALCO. She was of the Christian Faith; she enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, going to casino's and spending time with her family. In her younger years she enjoyed riding motorcycles and scuba diving.
Survivors include children Kevin Miller and wife Cheryl of Longview, Washington, James Miller of Mesa, Arizona and Kenneth Dale Capp of Conway, Arkansas; siblings Geraldine Bevans of Frontenac, KS, Mary Lindsay and husband Bill of Pittsburg, Kansas and Bill Bevans of Denver, Colorado; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Janice Kay Miller, siblings Barbara Mae Perrigo and James Eugene Bevans.
Celebration of Life will be 2-4:00pm Friday August 25, 2023 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. Burial of cremains will be private at Bird Cemetery Cherokee County, KS. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to SEK Humane Society. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S.
