Doris 'Elaine' Walker's Obituary
Doris ‘Elaine’ Walker, 95, of Pittsburg Ks, passed away peacefully Saturday April 15th, 2023 at Girard Medical Center,
Elaine was born September 26, 1927 at home in Arma KS to Lucy (Buset) and Mike Merciez. On December 17, 1950 she was united in marriage to Dempsey Logan Walker and the two eventually settled in Independence KS where they raised their two children, Beverly and Michael.
On top of being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, she was an avid bowler, card player, an active volunteer in her community, and worked as a teachers aide.
Survivors Include her daughter Beverly (Jake) Marietta of Pittsburg; Five Grandchildren: Michael (Jenelle) Marietta of Pittsburg, Jacob (Aubrey) Marietta of Andover, Anna (Jeremy) Sweaney of Pittsburg, Lindsey (Jason Townsend) Walker of Goddard, Lauren Walker of Manhattan; Ten Great Grandchildren: Madison, Kash, and Banks Marietta; Lilly, Olivia, and Vincent Marietta; William, Lennox, Ashton, and Ariebella Lucille Sweaney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Mike Merciez; husband, Dempsey L. Walker; son, Michael Walker; daughter-in-law, Jane Walker; brother, Louis Merciez; and sister-in-Law Sharon Merciez.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 20 from 6-8pm at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10am Friday, April 21st at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home followed by a luncheon. Friends are then invited to join the processional to Sherman City Cemetery for graveside services to be held at 2pm.
Memorials may be made to the Sherman Cemetery Restoration Association; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home. 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762
