Doris Lee Naylor's Obituary
Doris Lee Naylor 98, of Weir, KS died 7:44pm Tuesday December 31, 2024 at the Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg, KS following a short illness.
Doris was born October 2, 1926 in McCune, KS the daughter of Barton Lloyd and Thelma Lucille (Robertson) Morrison. Doris was a graduate of Crawford County High School in Cherokee, KS in 1944. Doris later attended Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS from 1944-1947 majoring in chemistry.
Doris married Arval Edward “Ned” Naylor on October 11, 1947 at the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS; he preceded her in death on July 26, 1995.
Doris worked for Cherokee County Social Services from 1948-1952. She was also a retired Licensed Kansas Funeral Director.
Doris was a member of the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church; St. Bridget’s Altar Society; Chicopee Foundation; Sigma Sigma Sigma Soroitory at PSU from 1944-1947; Clarence Smith American Legion Post Auxillary in Weir, KS; Avid Bridge and Card Player; kept a garden till age 96 and in her early years shot trap and hit 25 out of 25 on an afternoon round.
Survivors include her children Joseph Edward Naylor and wife Sally of Pittsburg, KS; Nancy Naylor of Scammon, KS; David William Naylor of Pittsburg, KS and Mary Barbara Naylor of Pittsburg, KS; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Chris Anthony Naylor, sister Wilma Vietti and a grand-daughter Anna Teresa Grimaldi.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Wednesday January 8, 2025 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS with Fr. Chris Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery in Scammon, KS. A rosary will be recited at 10:00am prior to the service at the church and family will receive friends from 9-10:00am at the church prior to services. Informal visitation will be from 12-5:00pm Tuesday January 7, 2025 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home and Crematory in Weir, KS. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home and Crematory 104 W. Main St. Weir, KS 66781. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
