Denise M. Phillips' Obituary
Denise M. Phillips 55, of Columbus, KS died 4:08am Wednesday June 23, 2021 at the Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO following a car accident that took place three weeks ago.
Denise was born April 17, 1966 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Lyle E. “Rocky” and Patty Jo (Phillips) Sutton. She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended area schools in Bronaugh, MO. She later attended Labette Community College. She was currently a fleet manager for WATCO of Pittsburg, KS but worked previously for KDOT for 13 years and SBDC for small businesses. Denise had a passion for working hard, she enjoyed concerts, yard work, her tomato garden, her dog and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her fiancée Larry Robinson of Columbus, KS; children Mark Morgan and wife Kristin of Girard, KS, Robert Morgan and Haleigh Flores of Parker, CO, Nic Robinson and wife Marina of Kansas City, MO and Jessie Robinson of Columbus, KS; siblings Dawn Marie Sutton of Fayette, MO, Larry Staples and wife Klaudia of Gentry, AR, Nancy Rich and husband Jerry of Arma, KS and Dianne Grand Bois and husband David of Cedar City, UT; mother in law Sherry Robinson of Columbus, KS; grandchildren Rylee Morgan, Gunnar Morgan, Ashlyn Clark and Landon Clark; in addition several nieces and nephews.
Denise was preceded in death by her father, brother Randy Sutton and several aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life will be 6:00pm Wednesday June 30, 2021 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. Burial will be at a private date. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to Mark or Robert Morgan. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S.
