Darline L. Mitchell, 90, passed away on the evening of Thursday November 13, 2025 at her home in Columbus, KS
Darline was born on May 2, 1935 in Columbus, KS to William T. Vanderford and Ella Mae (Wright) Vanderford. She graduated from high school in Wichita, KS in 1953.
Darline attended church at the First Baptist Church in Columbus, KS. She loved travel, elephants, and anything “safari.” She also loved cleaning, and spent much of her life as a cleaner. Darline held her friends dearly, and she truly loved being a friend to them in return.
Darline is survived by three children, seven grandchildren, two of whom she adopted and raised as her own, 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, two brothers, four sisters, and many great friends.
Arrangements are made for Darline to be cremated by the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home & Crematory of Columbus, KS. Her ashes will be buried at the National Cemetery in Fort Scott, KS. No service is planned at this time.
