Cynda Lou Jarrett's Obituary
Cynda Lou Jarrett, 72, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 20, 1954, she was the daughter of Ruth and Willard Warwick of Chetopa, Kansas.
Cynda dedicated 42 years of her life to educating and inspiring children at Chetopa Elementary School, where teaching was far more than a career—it was her true passion and calling. Her classroom was a welcoming sanctuary of laughter, curiosity, and encouragement, leaving generations of students feeling deeply seen, supported, and believed in. The lasting impact of her warmth and joy is evident in the many former students who remained in touch long after graduation. Beyond the school walls, Cynda extended her gift by teaching Sunday School at First United Methodist Church and remained a pillar of the Chetopa community, always ready to help wherever she was needed.
After retirement, Cynda moved to Pittsburg, Kansas to be closer to her family. She lived for her children and grandchildren. She loved them fiercely, supported them endlessly, and poured her heart into being their mom and grandmother.
Cynda had a true gift of hospitality. Her cozy home was a place where everyone felt welcome, well‑fed, and at ease. Through her love of hosting and cooking, she created a space filled with laughter, connection, and comfort. And her fried chicken was legendary.
Cynda was delightfully quirky and found joy in every corner of life. She exuded happiness and handled hardships with quiet strength and grace. She brought fun to everyone around her and will be missed in ways too many to name. She was, in every sense, truly beloved.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her cherished son, Lucas.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Marvel (Mikey); daughter-in-law, Sara Jarrett; grandchildren, Jarrett, Kate, and Charlie; her brother, Stuart Warwick (Penny); and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 415 N Pine Street in Pittsburg, with Pastor Daniel Reffner officiating. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available through the Pittsburg First United Methodist Facebook and YouTube channels.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the restoration of the stained-glass windows at the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg. This is another way her light will shine on for others to see. Condolences may be left at https://www.bathnaylor.com.
