Connie Rae Bennett's Obituary
Connie Rae Bennett 69, of Columbus, KS died 11:06pm Saturday November 11, 2023 at the Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO following an accident in the Sam’s Club parking lot in Joplin, MO.
Connie was born December 21, 1953 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of Lenard C. and Fern L. (Deckard) Perry. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Southeast High School in Cherokee, KS. She later graduated from Labette Community College with a degree in nursing.
On August 29, 1970 Connie married Thomas L. Bennett in Columbus, KS; he survives at the home. Connie worked at Autumn Place in Columbus, KS since 1990. She also worked for Medicalodge Nursing Home in Columbus, KS and Dr. Jones in Columbus, KS. Connie was of the Christian Faith; she loved shopping, Branson, being a grandma, taking care of people and was known to be devoted to her work.
Survivors include her husband; son Scott Bennett of Columbus, KS; sisters Maxine Perry of Columbus, KS, Gloria Hayward of Altamont, KS, Brenda Fry of Chetopa, KS and Barbara Phillips of Columbus, KS; grandchildren Brice Bennett and fiancée Courtney of Columbus, KS and Bailey Schoech and husband Keaton of Columbus, KS; great-grandchildren Fisher and Milo Bennett.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers John Perry and Lonnie Perry.
Funeral Services will be 6:00pm Thursday November 16, 2023 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, KS with Fr. Jeremy Huser officiating. Burial will be private at Park Cemetery in Columbus, KS. Family will receive friends from 5-6:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call the funeral home after 1:00pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Children’s Mercy Kansas City, MO and/or MAX Center in Columbus, KS. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 611 S. East Ave. Columbus, KS 66725. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
