My sister was very lively and outgoing as a young child. She was often described as a "live wire". She was also a "Daddy's girl", and he called her "Pumpkin". She grew into a very beautiful young woman. In high school her emphasis was on Home Economics, which developed into her job skills for her career with Columbus School District and later with Quapaw Casino's food service. She was a great cook and also artistically talented. She rose above the tragedy of losing her son at age 16, and had a positive outlook on life, often smiling and laughing in spite of the health problems she developed later in her life. When she knew that her lung cancer would be terminal, she said: "God is going to heal me--just not in the way that I had hoped."
