Claire Ann Barber's Obituary
Claire Ann Barber 86, of Pittsburg, KS died on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital.
She was born August 25, 1937 in Springfield, MA, the daughter of Leslie and Elizabeth (Summerlin) Henderson.
Claire dedicated over 40 years of her life as a Registered Nurse (RN). She exemplified a generous spirit, serving as a guardian for disabled individuals, a Pink Lady at Via Christi Hospital, and a member of the Kansas Silver Haired Legislature. In addition to her professional commitments, she volunteered her time at the Homer Cole Center.
On October 14, 1961 Claire married Wayne Barber in Springfield, MA; he preceded her in death. Claire was a member of the Frontenac Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children Duane Barber and wife Tammy of Girard, KS, Gloria Goodale and husband Larry of Claremore, OK and Kirk Barber and wife Bobbi Jo of Tuscan, AZ; grandchildren, David Roberts and wife Kelly, Hailey Bennett and husband Ricky, Scott Goodale and wife Crista, Leah Barber and Caleb Barber, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Claire was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, parents, son, Douglas Scott Barber, brother, Ronald P. Henderson and a grand-daughter Nicole Roberts.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the First Christian Church 705 Centennial Dr., Pittsburg, KS 66762 with Reverend Dustin Morris officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS.
Family will receive friends 10:00-11:00am prior to the service at the church.
