One of the biggest gifts ever given to me came from Chris. Our beautiful daughter. My life just wouldn't be the same without him. This is one of my favorite pictures of her from almost 20 years ago. He will be missed. RIP my dear friend.
Chris made the cake for our wedding; as soon as I told him Joel and I were engaged, he offered to do it, then planned a trip to Joplin so we could get supplies. I also remember how stressed he was about finishing it on time! :) This is just one example of his generosity... He wanted to take care of everyone. I'm so sorry we had lost touch since Hastings closed. He will be missed!
Once when Chris and I and a couple others had to go to Tulsa to catch a flight to Dallas for meetings, he showed up at my store (Joplin),so we could all ride together, in some old clunker car....I was super skeptical. But Chris said it would be fine. We made it to Vinita , I think, before that car gave up. We waited at a cute little winery for my hubs to come take us the rest of the way. I'm sure I was not a happy camper that day, but now it is a cherished memory of my beautiful friend.
A truly kind and caring person. Chris was always quick to introduce himself to a stranger, then help that person make new friends. That's what I remember most. He was happiest when he was helping other people be happy.
Chris was a sweet guy. When I first started going to Ron's Place he and Jessie would be there. They were one of the only regular couples we knew that came. But Chris would be so sweet to us youngins! Those of us that were new, or those of us comfy with ourselves, honey he didn't care! He would like you anyway. But girl you gonna be missed!!!
Chris was a beacon for so many people. He took in the desolate. He was a counselor. He was a parental figure. But most of all he was a true friend.
We would stay up all night playing Uno, Skipbo, Magic the Gathering, or D&D. The most hateful things would be said during these games. But everyone knew if was all in jest.
We would have family nights. Gather everyone and head to "that horrible place on Poplar". Or bust up in Corkey's on all you can eat rib night.
There is so many memories I could go on forever. He was an amazing person. And I am truly sadden that the people who never met him will not get a chance.
You were my best friend for 23 years; there will always be clouds in the sky without you.
