Carl Loyd Gilmore's Obituary
Carl Gilmore, 90, of Pittsburg KS left this life on August 7, 2022. He joined the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Carl Gilmore was born on November 3, 1931 in Pittsburg, KS, to Edward Gilmore and Mamie Larkin.
Carl graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1949 and went on to earn a degree in Communications in California in 1957. He started his career as a Communications Technician and went on to work for AT&T for 30 years.
Carl served in the United States Army. He was stationed in Japan from 1952-1954.
Carl married the love of his life Hattie Wrench in Carson City, Nevada, June 14, 1974 with 2 Sons, Keith Kerr Fiance Pam of Kansas City KS & Michael Kerr wife Carol of Pittsburg, KS.
Carl Retired in January of 1986 at 55 years young.
Carl followed the Lords call to become a missionary in Texas & in Mexico. He and Hattie spent 27 years volunteering with Daysprings Outreach Ministries. Carl attended the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Pittsburg, KS
Carl was best known for his warm and inviting personality. Carl loved meeting people. Carl never met a stranger. He very much enjoyed being with his family and friends. He often spoke about how blessed he was to have an abundance of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carl was a prayer warrior and believed in taking care of each other. He loved Jesus, and shared many times how Good God is & was to him.
Carl also enjoyed traveling, fishing, ham radio, electronics, westerns, reading, and studying the Bible. His passion for learning led him to earning a Pilot license, and he took courses for motorcycle repair.
Carl is survived by Hattie Gilmore, wife, of Pittsburg, KS, two sons, Keith & Michael Kerr.
13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Carl is preceded in death by Edward Gilmore, father, Mamie Larkin, mother, four brothers & four sisters
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the Lighthouse Tabernacle, 604 South 200th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
A private inurnment will be held at Ft. Scott National Cemetery.
