Boyd "Buck" McMillin's Obituary
Boyd “Buck” McMillin age 88, of Pittsburg, KS passed away at Via Christi Village on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. He was born in Arcadia, KS on January 19, 1934 to Clarence and Alta (Davis)McMillin. He attended school in Arcadia and graduated in 1952. He then attended Ft. Scott Junior College and graduated in 1954. While in high school and junior college he excelled in football, basketball, and track.
He worked for the Gas Service Co. in Pittsburg for 29 years and served as union president for 17 years, retiring in 1992. He later owned and operated a dump truck and drove a tour bus for Kowboy Coaches in Pittsburg.
He married Roberta Mitchell in Arcadia in 1955. They were married for 44 years until she passed away in March 2000. He married Alpha Siebert Scales on October 14, 2010.
Buck loved to hunt and fish. For 25 years he officiated high school and college football / basketball games. He was past president of the College Officials Association. He officiated high school All Star basketball games, 12 high school state basketball tournaments and 5 State high school football championships.
He is survived by his wife Alpha McMillin, daughters Gayle Lamb (Jack), Vicki DeCuyper (John). Step children Jeff Siebert (Renee), Craig Siebert (Tiffany) and Sherri Siebert. Grandchildren, Matt Lamb, Erin Ramsey, Kate Ben and Reed DeCuyper. Step grandchildren Blake and Kyler Siebert, Kris Painter, Jene Shields, and Amber Brown. 3 great grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Roberta McMillin, brothers Charles and Bill McMillin and a granddaughter Sarah DeCuyper.
A private graveside service is planned. Friends may call Thursday, December 15, 2022 after 2 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to Meals on Wheels in Pittsburg, KS.
