Betty Jean Young's Obituary
Betty Jean Young, 93 of Springfield, MO., passed away Wednesday August 10, 2016 at the Mercy Villa, where she resided for seven years.
She was born in Pittsburg, KS on November 5, 1922 to Faye and Frank Hawley. They preceded her in death in 1988. Betty graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1939, and then attended business college in Joplin, MO. On May 29, 1950 she married Fred Young, who preceded her in death July 10, 1983. Together they shared 33 years of marriage. Betty was a 26 year cancer survivor. Survivors are her son Roy Young of Belton, MO; a daughter Barbara Linthacum, Springfield, MO; a brother Bob Hawley of Independence, MO; 3 granddaughters-Shelly Hash and husband Brian of Lebanon, MO, Staci Linthacum and husband John of Columbia, MO, Lesley Dormeyer and husband Phil of Cape Girardeau, MO; 7 Great-grandchildren-Reilly, Elias, Quincy, Lola, Susannah, Kolten and Kyra. A celebration of Betty’s life will begin with a visitation at 10 a.m. Wednesday August 17th, 2016 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Mark Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
