Betty Delores Henson's Obituary
Betty Delores (Markley) Henson, 80 of Pittsburg, KS died at 9:11am, Friday January 5, 2018 at her home.
She was born June 24, 1937 at Mt Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of John and Nettie (Larcom) Markley.
She attended Mt. Olive School and graduated from McCune Rural High School
in 1955.
She earned her Master’s Degree in elementary education from Pittsburg State.
She began her teaching career in 1958 at Lamar, MO and then at Washington
School in Joplin, MO until 1969.
Betty was a member of the Church of Christ.
She married Jerry Henson at Columbus, KS on July 12, 1969. They lived in
Tulsa, OK for 10 years before moving back to McCune, KS on the old Markley
farm. She raised two daughters before resuming her teaching. She subsutited
for Altamont and Columbus schools from 1988 to 2016.
She is survived by her husband Jerry of the home, her daughters: Nettie Beck and husband Ben and their two daughters Michaela and Breanna of Lafayette, IN, Lettie Litherland and her husband Wayne and their two sons Lannum & Lennex of Seneca, MO.
Graveside services will be Saturday, at 2 pm, January 13, 2018 at Star Cemetery near West Mineral, KS with Minister Jake King officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery at 1:30 pm for a brief visitation before the services at 2 pm. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to help with final expenses; these should be made out to the funeral home and left at or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762. Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, KS.
