Barbara Ruth Pistole's Obituary
Barbara Ruth (Wintle) Pistole, 92, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS.
She was born February 16, 1929 in Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Fred and Helen (Raxter) Wintle.
Barbara graduated from Pittsburg High in 1947. She received her bachelor’s of science degree and master’s degree from Kansas State Teachers College now Pittsburg State. While in college she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
Her first teaching position was in Garnett, then she taught in Riverton, for many years she taught second grade at George Nettles School.
She married Beryl Pistole August 8, 1954 in the First Christian Church.
They had one daughter Kathi.
Additional survivors include a sister Kathy Wintle of Overland Park, KS and a sister-in-law Jane Wintle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister Carol Graves and a brother Bill Wintle.
She had been a member of the Via Christi Volunteers, working in the gift shop. Membership was also held in the Progressive Studies Club.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, Aug 22, 2021 from 3-5pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the SEK Humane Society.
