Barbara Ellen Greer's Obituary
Barbara Ellen Greer 87, of Miami, OK died at 11:45am, Thursday June 13, 2024 at the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, KS following an illness.
Barbara was born September 16, 1936 in Weir, KS the daughter of Cleo C. and Mary Frances (Sevart) Meyer. She attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Pittsburg and later attended college at NEO. On November 26, 1955 Barbara married Francis Owen Greer at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS; they later divorced. Barbara worked as a homemaker and for customer service at the Oklahoma Gas Company for 14 years. Barbara was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami, OK; a member of the Gabriel Project and the Legion of Mary Auxiliary; OU Mothers’ Club; enjoyed sewing; cooking; her flower garden; scrabble and most of all, loved her kids, grandkids and her great-grandkids.
Survivors include her children Barbara Fitzgerald and husband Michael of Memphis, TN, Melissa Cross and husband David of Birmingham, AL, Cheryl Greer of Oklahoma City, OK and Barry Greer and wife Janice of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; siblings Rose Marie Nilsson and husband Toby of Allen, TX, Julia Ort and husband Ron of Olathe, KS, Fred Meyer and wife Charlene of Weir, KS, Frieda Noller of Hutchinson, KS, Mary Denise Deill and husband Phil of Oxford, KS; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her Parents; daughter Regina Greer; son Christopher Greer; siblings Francis Meyer, John Meyer, David Meyer, Mary Katherine Meyer and a grandson Cid Hafner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Saturday June 22, 2024 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS with grandsons Father Gabriel Greer and Father Derek Hooper as concelebrants.
Burial will follow at the St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Scammon, KS. Rosary will be recited at 6:30pm Friday June 21, 2024 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; family will receive friends following the rosary. Friends may call the funeral home after 3:00pm Friday. In lieu of the flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church Building Fund.
