April Richardson Farruggia 80, of Stilwell, KS died 5:15pm Friday May 9, 2025 at Garden Terrace of Overland Park Nursing Care due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
April was born August 30, 1944 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of Everett and Alice (Newport) Melton. She was a graduate of Southeast High School and lived in Frontenac until 1989. April married George Richardson on June 8, 1963 in Pittsburg, KS; he preceded her in death on December 6, 1996. She later married Raymond Farruggia in Stilwell, KS.
April worked for Montgomery Ward and later Jackson Electric for many years in Retail Sales. In her later years she worked as a Para-professional for the Blue Valley School District.
April was of the Christian Faith; she loved to ride motorcycles, camping, boating, swimming or otherwise enjoying the outdoors.
Survivors include her son Eric G. Richardson and wife Billie Jo of Stilwell, KS; siblings Arelva Brynds and husband Ted of Cherokee, KS and James Melton and wife Gertrude of Holden, MO and grandchildren Brandon, Ryan and Justin Richardson.
April was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters Minnie Melton, Norvella Boccia and Rosalee Monroe.
Graveside Memorial Services will be at 10:00am Saturday June 7, 2025 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Karen Almond and Victor Boccia officiating. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00pm Sunday May 18, 2025 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
