Virginia Catherine Rockers

May 27, 1930 - May 29, 2020

Virginia Catherine Rockers, 90, of Columbus, Kansas passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. She was born May 27, 1930 in Humboldt, Kansas, the daughter of George H. and Katherine J. (Titmus) Hardin. Virginia was a graduate from Iola High School, class of 1948. On October 20, 1948, Virginia married the love of her life, William Rockers, he preceded her in death on June 10, 2015. Virginia was a homemaker most of her life. After raising her 7 children, she worked as a store associate at Ben Franklin for 10 years and later worked for SRS as a home health caregiver for 8 years. Virginia was an active member at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Columbus since 1965, serving as a member in the Altar Society and singing in the church choir for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved sewing and crafts but thoroughly enjoyed spending time and cooking for her family. Virginia is survived by her 7 children; Gene Rockers of Columbus, KS, Nancy (Gregg) Simpson of Grove, OK, Jerry (Linda) Rockers of Joplin, MO, Susan (Charles) DePratt of Columbus, KS, David (Dixie) Rockers of Carthage, MO, Jim (Susan) Rockers of Columbus, KS, Dan (Diana) Rockers of Arma, KS, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister; Agnes Hansen, 4 brothers; Bernard Hardin, Leonard Hardin, James E. Hardin, Raymond Hardin. A private family mass will be held at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Jeremy Huser as celebrant. Private Interment will follow in the St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery. The parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Columbus. The family will receive friends following the rosary. Memorials may be left to the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church or the St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 611 S. East Ave Columbus, KS 66725. E-mail condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Arrangements are by the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Columbus, KS.
