Mardell C. Chesshir, 94 of Frontenac passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 25, 2016 at the Via Christi Village in Pittsburg. She was born February 22, 1922 in Frontenac the daughter of John Wesley and Essie F. (Mitchem) Ray. She was married to Irven Brooks and they later divorced, later she married J.T. Chesshir and he preceded her in death. Mardell was a member of the Frontenac United Methodist Church in Frontenac, the AARP and The Caring Club. Survivors include 7 siblings: Emma Jean Camfield of Wichita, KS, Henry Robert (Rose) Wente of Springfield, MO, Mary Jane Ray of McMinnville, TN, Wilda “Billie” Francis (Butch) Butcher Crescent City, CA, Delores Lavon (Bill) Knowles, Jerry Eugene (Penny) Wente and David Joseph (Sue) Wente all of Frontenac; a daughter-in-law Helen Brooks also of Frontenac; three grandchildren & several great grandchildren, along with several Special friends at the Frontenac Housing Authority. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband J.T., a son Raymond Arnold Brooks, a daughter Nancy Irene (Brooks) Hoss, a sister Margie Helen Nicaise and a granddaughter Janet Lee Hoss. Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Frontenac United Methodist church with Pastor Annie Ricker officiating. Entombment will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 am Thursday until service time. Condolences may be left at www.friskelfuneralhome.com.
