Leroy Albert Weston

October 25, 1936 - January 30, 2017

PITTSBURG, KS – Albert Leroy “Roy” Weston, 80 of Pittsburg, died January 30, 2017. He was born October 25, 1936 at Camp Crowder in Neosho, MO to Albert and Lydia Beaver Weston. Leroy was the baby of a family of twelve. At a very young age he was helping his dad cut wood for sale. He attended country grade schools around Neosho. The family moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1945. Leroy started delivering auto parts by motorcycle for a Ford dealership at the age of 14. He also worked for a service station and Dairy Queen. By the age of 17 he was working the parts department at Manning Chevrolet. He met and married Gayle Cooper on January 1, 1955. After the birth of four sons, the family moved to Kansas City, Kansas. Leroy worked for various auto dealerships around Kansas City, as Service Manager winning many awards. As he moved from one dealership to another many customers loyally followed him. As the boys grew Leroy became very involved in PTA and boy scouts and was Scout Master for over 10 years for Troop 46, affiliated with Welborn United Community Church, where the families were members. In 1999 Leroy and Gayle retired and moved to Pittsburg to a lovely home built by the four sons on a piece of property donated by son Marlon and wife Linda. Leroy liked fishing, auctions and showing his 1966 Chevrolet Caprice station wagon in car shows, and parades, winning numerous trophies and awards. Leroy was predeceased by his parents and four sisters, Eunice Weston, Helen Tanner, Lucille Martin and Mary Butcher and seven brothers Ernest, Oscar, Ellis, Harold, Harry, Charley and Ray. He leaves his wife Gayle, four sons, Michael (Susie), Monty (Kathy), Mitchell (Donna) and Marlon (Linda), seven grandchildren Carl Graves (Lexie), Rebecca Gober (Shane), Joshua Weston, Brandon Weston, Rachel Weston, Jennifer Weston, and Emily Hunt (Brian), five great grandchildren, Zaryan and Zayleigh Gober, Xavier Weston, Nora Radcliff, Lane Hunt and another eagerly awaited great-granddaughter June Hunt expected in March. The family will receive their friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home & Crematory, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, KS. Inurnment will be at a later date. A memorial has been established to Avalon Hospice in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left at our web site www.bathnaylor.com.
