LaDonna Rose Knez

April 2, 1936 - February 28, 2022

LaDonna Rose Knez, 85, of West Mineral, died Monday, February 28, 2022 in the comfort of her longtime home. LaDonna was born April 2, 1936 in Lake Benton, Minnesota to Peter and Rosa Schultz Hoberg. She is a graduate of Lake Benton High School. In 1955 she married Fred Knez where they resided in northern Illinois for most of their marriage. The two shared an almost 61 year marriage until his death in 2016. After Fred's retirement from teaching they moved to West Mineral, Kansas. Winters were spent traveling in their motorhome to Florida and parts of the south where they ran dog trials with his Labrador Retrievers. Ladonna was a housewife but also worked at various secretarial positions. The longest being 11 years spent with GAB Business Service in Waukegan, Illinois. She was an avid crafter with crochet and cross stitch leading the list. She has been active in the Methodist faith throughout her life (lastly being a member of the Cherokee Methodist Church in Cherokee). Survivors are daughter Turia (Mark) Smith of West Mineral, grandsons Mark Mauser, Jacob (Karly) Smith and Logan Smith, numerous beloved nieces and nephews and special dog friend Squirt. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Memorial Service will be at 10:30 am Tuesday March 8, 2022 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 104 W. Main Street, Weir, KS, with Chaplain Janie Aita of Kindred Hospice officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 -10:30 am, Tuesday at the funeral home before the service. Inurnment will be at a later date placing her and her husband's ashes to rest at St. Bridget's Cemetery in Scammon, Kansas. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association and/or the Cherokee United Methodist Church. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Services are under the arrangements of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Weir, KS.
