OLATHE, KS – Josephine Maria Wachter, 55, of Olathe, formerly of Pittsburg, died February 27, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was born October 22, 1961 in Pittsburg the daughter of Paul and Rosemary Cowan Wachter. She graduated from St. Mary’s Colgan High School in 1980, graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Ms. Wachter taught the Sciences’ her whole life at Harman High School in Kansas City, KS. She also coached Volleyball, Basketball and Track. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg prior to moving to the Olathe, Kansas area. She loved the outdoors and traveling to new places. Any Animal was a friend, she cared for many through the years. Shake, Bake and Scooby will miss her. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Paul and Rosemary Wachter, brothers Jeff and Pete, sister-in-law Melanie Wachter, brother-in-law Greg Evans. Survivors include four brothers Dr. Mike Wachter of Bloomsbury, NJ, Tom Wachter and wife Becky of Plano, TX, Father Bob Wachter of Fort Scott, KS, Paul Wachter Jr. and wife Teri of Pittsburg, three sisters Meg Evans of Girard, Beth Smith and husband Chuck of Pittsburg, Jean Adams and husband Frank of Neosho, MO, 22nieces and nephews which she loved. She was Godmother to Kortne Ford, Russ Wachter, Christy Smith and Ethan Adams. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Father Robert “Bob” Wachter and Father Michael Baldwin as celebrants. The soloist will be Mike Doue and the organist will be Sharon Barone. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Pittsburg. The parish rosary will be recited at 7 pm Friday March 3, 2017 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg. The family will receive their friends after the rosary service at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 10 am Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas City, KS. A memorial has been established to Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund, Harman High School in Kansas City, KS or the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
