October 11, 1957 - March 11, 2018
John Wyatt Becker, amazing son, brother, uncle, and special soul, left us to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 11, 2018 at 5:00 AM after a short stay at Via Christi Hospital. John was born on October 11, 1957 in Concordia, KS to Virgil M. Becker and Georgia R. Becker who lived at Cawker City, KS at the time. He was the 3rd of 5 children. His early childhood was spent on the farm there. The family later moved to Manhattan, KS where a special education classroom was available. He enjoyed many activities and made many friends in Manhattan. He enjoyed Special Olympics, participated in the Exceptional Theater Company, bowling, the Sunbelt Rodeo, and became recognized as an abstract artist. His lovely paintings are displayed in many homes in the Manhattan and 4-States area. He enjoyed traveling across the country with his parents, camping in National Parks and exploring the eastern states with the theater group. He later moved with his parents to Weir, KS to be closer to his sister and her family. He was fortunate to find two wonderful bowling friends, Jim Rodabaugh and David Askins and their families. He had many delightful times with his niece, Melissa, and two nephews, Will and Ethan, as they grew up he later enjoyed his grand-nieces and nephews. He found a wonderful home away from home with Horses of Hope and their dedicated and caring staff and the community of riders there. He continued developing his artistic talents, designing a card accepted by Special Olympics and donating many painting to the HOH Dinner Theater for the last 20 years. He was a sweet, happy person, treasured by his family and loved and admired by his many friends. He was proceeded in death by his younger brother, Curtis N., and his father, Virgil. He is survived by his mother, Georgia Becker and sister Roxy Blessent of the home, his brothers George Becker, Enterprise, OR and Sam Becker, Little Elm TX, his nephew Ethan Blessent, Weir, KS, nephew Will Blessent (Savannah), Pittsburg, KS and their son Kyuss, niece, Melissa Williams (Clayton), Joplin, MO and her children Hunter Lyden, Halie McClintock, Haygun McClintock, and Hadlyn McClintock. Celebrations of Life will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 24, at the American Legion, 200W. Main St, in Glen Elder, KS; and 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 31, at Horses of Hope Riding Center, 6968 SE 20th St., Baxter Springs, KS. Lunch will be served. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Horses of Hope.
