Frank E. Peak, Jr. 82 of Girard, KS passed away December 8, 2016 at his home He was born April 11, 1934 in Girard the son of Frank E. Peak Sr. and Mary (Johnson) Peak. He was a lifetime Girard resident. Frank started farming at a young age and continued farming until health issues forced him to retire in 2003. He also worked at Producers Coop in Girard, Dickey Clay and Harvest Brand in Pittsburg. Frank met Evelyn Hedges of Adrian, MO while she was visiting relatives in Girard in the summer of 1953. They were married August 7th of that same year. They celebrated 63 years of marriage; she survives him of the home. Frank was a hard worker and very proud of his farm. He had a soft spot for all animals wild and tame. He was well-known for his orneriness and for being quite a prankster, the twinkle in his eye usually gave him away. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, teaching them his ornery ways. Additional survivors include three daughters: Sherry (Bud) Simons of Cedar Creek, MO, Lori (Terry) Faucett of Frontenac, KS and Becky (Keith) Shively of Girard. A sister Marguerite Ashmore of Frontenac and a brother Rod Peak of Girard. Two granddaughters: Christy (Cameron) Carter of Neosho, MO and Abbey Rudisill of Frontenac, along with four great grandchildren Cole, Camri, Callie and Creleigh Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Helena Peak and a son-in-law Rodney Rudisill. Graveside services will be 1 pm, Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Girard City Cemetery with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Family will receive friends at the cemetery committal building from 12:30 until service time. Condolences may be left at www.friskelfuneralhome.com.
