Obituaries
GIRARD — Ronald Dean Wutke, age 67, resident of Girard, Kansas,
passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Girard Medical Center. He
was born January 25, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Clarence S.
(Red) Wutke and Nellie Virginia Cornelison Wutke. Ron was a 1961
graduate of Girard High School, four-year letterman, and president of his
senior class. He attended Kansas State College of Pittsburg. He married
Patricia Louise Boatman and moved to Denver, Colorado in 1964. They
had two daughters, Cheryl and Kristin. Patricia preceded Ron in death in
2007.
Ron was employed by several major companies including General
Electric, Hotpoint, and Holiday Inn. He divorced and moved back to
Kansas in 1986 where he purchased the East Side Café, the family
business. Soon after, he married Pam Bailey of Radley. They later
divorced. After retiring recently, Ron was very active in the Girard
community and was named Volunteer of the Year in 2009. He was an
avid Girard Trojan Fan and loved all sports.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Wutke Michelet and husband,
Kirk of Baton Rouge, LA; Kristin Wutke Weis and husband, Jason, of
Tulsa, OK; his mother, Nellie V. Wutke of Girard; two brothers, Steve
Wutke and wife, Betty, of Springfield, MO; David Wutke and wife, Robin,
of Girard; sister-in-law, Catherine Wutke of Fort Scott; and beloved friend
and caregiver, Linda Carl. Also surviving are four grandchildren,
Christian and Jessica Michelet, and Joshua and Hannah Weis; five
nephews, Sam and Julie Wutke, Lance Reeves, Drew and Dane Wutke,
and Jeff Piccinelli and wife Shannon; two nieces, Angie Wutke Hickman
and husband, Jarrod, Paula Piccinelli and husband, Andre: one great
niece, Madison Wutke; one great nephew, Brooks Hickman. He was
preceded in death by his father, Clarence S. (Red) Wutke, and his
brother, Sam Charles Wutke, and many aunts and uncles.
The Wutke family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at
Girard Medical Center, as well as, Mt. Carmel Medical Center for their
excellent care and compassion during this difficult time.
The family is planning a celebration of Ron’s life Wednesday, March 3, 7-
9 PM at Celebrity’s in Girard. Memorials are suggested to Girard Medical
Center Foundation, of which Ron was a member. Memorials may be
given at Ron’s celebration or sent to 302 N. Hospital Drive, Girard,
