Obituaries
WEIR — James R. Wilson, Jr., 88 of Weir, KS died, Wednesday,
December 30, 2009 at the Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center.  
He had been in failing health for the past year.
He was born September 25, 1921 in Russellville, AL the son of James R.
Wilson, Sr. and Rhoda Evelyn (Quillin) Wilson.
On October 3rd, 1942 he was united in marriage to Bette Jean Cram in
Joplin, MO, she preceded him in death on February 10th, 1994.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1940 and was honorably discharged in
1945, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1948 where he honorably
served until 1951.
James worked for the Kansas City Southern Rail Road as an Electrician
for many years.
He was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle in Pittsburg.
James was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post #64 and the
SEK Humane Society.  He was a ham radio operator, W0RRL for many
years and was a member of the MARS program (Military Affiliated Radio
System) for 25 years.
Survivors include a son: William K. Wilson and wife Margie of Weir, a
step-brother: Richard Wilson of Atlanta, GA, a great Aunt: Quida
Thompson of Tacoma, WA, five grandchildren: Lori Wilson and husband
Chris of Weir, Jeff Wilson and wife Kim of Pittsburg, Lisa Harris and
husband John of Pittsburg, James Seward of Asbury, MO and Kevin
Seward of Pittsburg along with 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two daughters: Cheryl J.
Seward and Carol J. Wilson.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, January 4th, 2010 at the Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg with Rev. Daryl
Gaddy officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.  Family will
receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday,
January 3rd.  The Whiteman AFB Funeral Detail Team will provide
Military Honors at the graveside.  Condolences may be left at www.
