Obituaries
        Lois Westervelt, 92 of Columbus died at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday
August 16, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Scammon.

        She was born February 28, 1919 in Cherokee County the daughter
of Harry and Christina (Hines) Beecham.  She lived her entire life in the
Columbus area and was a 1937 graduate of Columbus High School .

        Lois married Clay Westervelt on July 4, 1937 in Oswego , KS ; he
preceded her in death on June 30, 1993.

        She was a homemaker.  She attended the Columbus United
Methodist Church ; she was a Pink Lady for the Maude Norton Hospital ,
was active in Farm Bureau and was active card clubs.

        Survivors include a daughter Linda Grant and husband Bob of
Scammon; a son Larry Westervelt of Columbus; three sisters Haroldeen
Masingle of California, Virginia Leffen of Joplin, MO, Susan Powell of
Pittsburg; seven grandchildren 17 Great-grandchildren and 13 Great-
great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents,
husband, two brothers Bud and Holly Beecham and sister Lorene Groves
and two Great-granddaughters Amy Mesplay and Amber Westervelt.

        Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday August 19, 2011 at the
Park Cemetery in Columbus with Elder Larry Reynolds officiating.  
Friends and family are requested to meet at the cemetery.  Friends may
call at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus from noon until 5 p.m.
