Obituaries
Patricia June Greenlaw Swinney, Pittsburg, KS, passed away July 18,
2011.
Patricia was born August 2, 1940 to James Leonard Stidham and Juanita
V. Gaines.
She was a 1957 graduate of Pittsburg High School and she attended
Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, MO.
Patricia was a Kansas City, KS, resident from 1961 to 1988 during which
time she worked for the Kansas City Missouri Chamber of Commerce,
Tension Envelope Corporation in Kansas City, MO, and the Bankruptcy
Court in Kansas City, KS. She returned to Pittsburg, KS, in 1988 and
remained there until her passing.
Patricia was a faithful member of Lighthouse Temple Church of God in
Christ in Pittsburg, KS and attended Mt. Hebron Baptist Church as a
child. She was baptized in Chicago, IL. at Providence Baptist Church.
Patricia loved community involvement and enjoyed social gatherings and
spending time with friends and family. She could often be found
organizing get-togethers and volunteering for community organizations.
For Patricia, no one was a stranger but always a friend. For
entertainment she loved to fish and shop.
She was a member of Eastern Star, Missouri Chapter of Greater Truth 2,
Springfield, MO.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Juanita Gilmore, Pittsburg,
KS; daughters, Carla Turner (Ron Russell), Gardner, KS; Karen
Eldridge, Owings Mills, MD; Rolanda Williams (Hiram), Kansas City, KS;
grandchildren Gregory McKinney II, Janá Neal, Evan Eldridge, Alan
Eldridge, Alexander English, Danielle Williams; great-grandson Jacari K.
English; beloved pets, Sassy Diva, Pittsburg, KS; Wyn “Chester” William
Swinney, Pittsburg, KS, and a host of other families, neighbors, and
friends.
Patricia was preceded in death by Charles W. Greenlaw; father James
Stidham; sister Barbara Williams, and grandson Anthony Eldridge II.
Funeral Services will be 1pm, Monday July 25, 2011 at the Lighthouse
Temple Church of God In Christ in Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Walter
Simpson officiating. Graveside Services will be 12:30pm, Tuesday, July
26, 2011 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.
Family will receive friends from 12-1pm Monday prior to the service. E-
