Obituaries
Donald L. Stewart of Girard died on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at his
home, while working in the outdoors he loved.

Born January 12, 1936 in Yates Center , he was the oldest son of Velton
and Maxine (Gregg) Stewart.  He attended College High School and
Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg .  

After serving 2 years in the Navy, he returned to Pittsburg , and with his
wife Carolyn ( Anderson ), raised two sons.  They later divorced.  He was
a prominent businessman for many years in Girard until his retirement.  
He always had a love of farming, which he practiced as a hobby all his life.

Active in community he held positions on the Girard Hospital Board and
the Optimist Club.  He later married Shirley Swart, and together were avid
motorcyclists belonging to the Gold Wing Road Riders Association of
America.  They traveled by bike extensively across the nation and
enjoyed life thoroughly.  

Survivors include his wife of the home; sons Dr. Steven Stewart (Susan)
of Santa Cruz, CA and Tim Stewart (Lanna) of Girard.  Stepsons are
Norman Wolsey (Tami), Jody Wolsey (Pam) and Onis Wolsey ( Nancy ); a
brother V. A. Stewart, a sister Suzanne Marshall (Tom) both of Pittsburg .
 Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews
thrive.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday March 7th at 4:30 p.m. at the
Family Life Assembly of God, 1234 N. Rouse in Pittsburg .  Memorial
contributions can be made to the building fund of the church.  Memorial
