Obituaries
Lila Mae (Gamble) Standley, 90 of Pittsburg died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday
February 4, 2010 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac, KS.  

She was born November 2, 1919 in Weir, KS the daughter of Lyle and
Cecil Mae (Penrod) Gamble.

Lila attended Weir schools and was a 1937 graduate of Weir High
School.  She moved to Pittsburg from Weir in 1966; she moved to
Independence, MO in 1971 and returned to Pittsburg in 1981.

She married Ermin Standley May 19, 1937 in Arma, KS; they were later
divorced.

While living in Weir Lila worked for Fromong’s Grocery; she also was a
sales clerk for Singer Stores for 20 years being responsible for the fabric
department.

Lila was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg; the
Order of the Eastern Star in Weir; while being a member of the Weir
United Methodist Church she was affiliated with the following programs
and activities: U.M.W., Sunday school and Bible School Teacher, Choir
Director, Youth Leader and a Baldwin University Camp for Young Women
Counselor.

Survivors include 2 sons- Tom Standley of Charlotte, N.C.; Bill Standley
of Parsons, KS; 2 daughters Shirley Patterson and Linda Pryer both of
Pittsburg; 11 Grandchildren, 21 Great-grandchildren, 3 Great-great
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in
death by her parents, a daughter Connie McCoy, a brother George
Gamble, a sister Irene Prewett and a Granddaughter Billie Jo Helton
Casella.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday February 9, 2010 at the Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg with Reverend Kathleen
Owsley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cherokee City Cemetery.  The
family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home
where friend may call after noon on Monday.  Condolences can be made
