SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Dorothy Lovell Ratley, 72 of Springfield, MO
formerly of Cherokee, KS went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April
4, 2010 at the Cox South Hospital in Springfield. She had been in
declining health for the past several years.
She was born in Chicopee, KS the daughter of August and Ina (Baker)
Passchetti. She attended area schools and graduated from the
Cherokee High School.
On November 26, 2000 she was united in marriage to Saul Ratley in
Honolulu, HI. He survives her of the home.
Dorothy has overcome many hardships in her life, losing her mother at
an early age. She and Saul loved to travel.
Church membership was held at the Trinity Holiness Church in
Monmouth, KS.
She worked for many years at the Mt. Carmel Hospital as a Medical
transcriber.
Additional survivors include four sons: Jason Lovell and wife Denise of
Raymore, MO, Todd Lovell and wife Lisa of Mindenmines, MO, Greg
Lovell and wife Missy of Pittsburg, KS and Jeff Lovell and wife Teresa of
Cherokee; a daughter Kathy Kirby and husband Randy of Battlefield,
MO; two step-daughters Carissa Lindbloom of Frontenac, KS and Cara
Conrad and her husband Todd of Olathe, KS; a sister Patsy Proffitt of
Cherokee, KS; along with 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews. She was a lover of animals, and is also
survived by her four legged children Shiloh, Bailey, Sammy, Sweet pea
and Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Charles
Earl Passchetti, August, Jr. “Pooch” Passchetti and Paul “Babe”
Passchetti.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Davolt officiating. Burial will follow in the
Cherokee City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home
from 6-8 pm Thursday. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
Memorials may be made to the SEK Humane Society, these may be left
at or mailed to the funeral home. Services and arrangements are under
the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway,
