GIRARD — Howard Olin Pollock, 80, of Girard, KS, formerly of Pittsburg,
KS died at 7:25pm, Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Girard Medical Center
in Girard, KS.

Howard was born October 24, 1929 in Mulberry, KS to Andrew and Zepha
P. (James) Pollock. He attended schools in CA, graduating from Newport
Beach High School with the class of 1947.

Howard married Doreen M. Quirk on September 3, 1952 in St. John’s,
Newfoundland. She survives in Girard.

Howard served his country in the United States Air Force.

He enlisted February 1951. While serving his country Howard received
the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He
was honorably discharged on November 7, 1954, as SSGT.

Howard was a fitter and layout personal for Pittsburg Steel Mfg., in
Pittsburg for 44 plus years.

Howard was of the Christian faith.

He was a lifelong member of the Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post
#64 of Pittsburg. He was an avid bingo player. Howard was a devoted
husband and loved spending time with his family and grandkids.

Additional survivors include daughter Deborah Nims and husband Ray of
Girard, KS and son Gary Pollock and wife Denise of St. Joseph, MO;
sisters Louise Clarkson of Independence, KS and Frances Workman and
husband Jerry of Kansas City, MO; brothers James “Jim” and John D. “J.
D.” Pollock both of Independence, KS and Larry Pollock of Laurel, MS;
two grandchildren Candi Sisk of Girard and Brandi McKinney of Pittsburg;
along with four great-grandchildren Levi and Taylor Sisk, Kennedi
Stafford and Tri Palmer.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Ilene Marie,
Helen Lee and Glenna Rorick.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 21, 2010 at Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Murray
Balk officiating. Burial will follow in Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry, KS,
where military honors will be done by the Whiteman Air Force Funeral
Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 9am until
service time at the funeral home.

The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials
