Obituaries
      Lyle Edward “Papa” Parsons, 82, of Girard, KS, formerly of McCune,
Kansas, died at 11:25 am,  Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Girard
Hospital in Girard, KS.
      He was born July 7, 1929 in McCune, KS the son of Leslie Jay and
Thelma Faye Streetmaker Parsons.  He had lived most of his life in
McCune, KS, moving to Grove, Oklahoma in 1994.  He had lived in
Girard, KS since 2008.
      He married Nyda Charlene Page on March 4, 1950 in Miami,
Oklahoma.  She survives at the home in Girard, KS.
      Lyle worked at the McCune Coop in Propane Sales for 30 years,
retiring in 1994.  He and his wife Charlene owned and operated Lyles
Tavern in McCune, Kansas from 1956 until 1976.
      He had served on the McCune City Council;  was a life member of
the West Mineral Eagles Club and was a member of the Moose Lodge in
Grove, Oklahoma.
      Survivors in addition to his wife include four sons Roger Lyle
Parsons and wife Jeanette of Lee’s Summit, MO;  Michael Dean Parsons
and wife Terry of McCune, KS;  Steven Dale Parsons and wife Julie of
Basehor, KS;  and Dennis Jay Parsons and wife Lisa of Girard, KS;  a
brother in law Richard White of Parsons, KS;  10 grandchildren and 6
great-grandchildren.
      He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Betty White.
      Services will be 10 am Tuesday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home,
522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, KS with the Rev. Clair Uitts, officiating.  
Burial will be in the McCune Cemetery.  The family will receive their
friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S.
Broadway in Pittsburg, KS.  Friends may call anytime after 2 pm Monday
at the funeral home.  A memorial has been established to the SEK
Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.  Memorials
may be left or sent to the funeral home.
