Gladys M. Oliver 86, of Crestline , KS died 1:28pm Monday August 1,
2011 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin , MO following a short illness.
Gladys was born August 15, 1924 in Crestline , KS the daughter of
Leonard and Irene (Collins) Scott; she was a lifelong resident of the area
and attended area schools. On June 23, 1943 Gladys married Euell J.
Oliver in Ft. Monmouth , NJ ; he preceded her in death on March 31,
2005 . Gladys worked as a cook most of her life for the Cherokee
County School System. She retired in 1986. She was a member of the
Crestline Christian Church in Crestline , KS ; Ladies Auxiliary VFW 1372
Columbus , KS ; her greatest joys in life were her family and fishing.
Survivors include her children Jim Oliver and wife Tracey Olsen-Oliver of
the home; Angela Maria Edwards and husband Fred of Carl Junction,
MO; grandchildren Jennifer DeGonia and husband Travis, Brian
Woodard and wife Kristin, Mathew Edwards and wife Megan and Fred
Edwards; great-grandchildren Gabriel Edwards, Britney DeGonia,
Caitlynn DeGonia and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Betty Scott
Brock, Mary Ann Scott Coleman and Linda Darnell, brothers Leonard
Scott Jr., Dickie Scott, Clifford Scott, John Collins and Jim Collins.
Funeral Services will be 10am Friday August 5, 2011 at the Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home in Columbus , KS with Pastor Chris Richardson and Pastor
Paul Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery in Columbus ,
KS . Family will receive friends from 7-8pm Thursday August 4, 2011 at
the funeral home in Columbus , KS ; friends may call after 12pm
Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be in
the form of memorials to the Crestline Christian Church. Friends may
drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 611 S. East Ave.
