Obituaries
Everett L. Krouse, 92 of Pittsburg died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, March 20,
2010 at the Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg .

He was born October 13, 1917 in Overbrook, KS the son of Marcus and
Emma (Lint) Krouse.  He attended high school in Overbrook, KS and
attended 2 years at Strickler’s Business College in Topeka , KS .

Everett was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Air
Force from June of 1942 until October of 1945.  He was honorably
discharged as Tech. Sgt. First Class.  He served in the India-China wing
of the Air Transport Command.

He married Dorothy Skalla on September 13, 1942 in St. Louis , MO and
was happily married for over 67 years.   She survives and resides at
Cornerstone Village in Pittsburg.  

Everett worked as a loan service specialist for the Veteran's
Administration in Wichita , KS for 35 years, retiring in 1976.  After his
retirement, he worked part-time in the men's department at Newman's in
Joplin and also worked in customer relations for Roper Pontiac in Joplin.

Everett followed a daily walking regimen for most of his life.  He enjoyed
fishing, collecting antique thermometers and was a volunteer at St.
John's Hospital in Joplin.  He was passionate about helping others and
would often share copies of relevant literature with friends, family and
acquaintances.

He was of the Presbyterian faith; a member of the VFW; a lifetime
member of NARFE; a national member of AARP and a past elder of the
Presbyterian Church.

Additional survivors include son-in-law John A. Jemison of Pittsburg , KS
son-in-law Richard Saylor of Hutchinson, KS; three grandchildren John B.
Jemison, Michelle (Jemison) Coulter Morrell and Hannah Krouse Saylor;
six great-grandchildren Alex and Mollie Jemison, Caleb and Devon
Coulter, Samantha Blanchard and Kody Morrell.  He was preceded in
death by his parents, 2 daughters Carol Elaine Jemison and Janet
Krouse Saylor; a brother Morris Krouse and four sisters Alma Reynolds,
Florence Hutchinson, Valleria Baldwin and Lela Atherton.

Memorial services will be 11 a .m. Wednesday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral
Home in Pittsburg with Reverend Dan Moss officiating.  Inurnment of
cremains will follow in the Fort Scott National Cemetery .  Condolences
