Obituaries
George Daniel “Dan” Homan 58, of Columbus, KS died 4:40pm Saturday
February 6, 2010 at his home following a long illness.  
Dan was born November 3, 1951 in Parsons, KS to Oris T. and Rusti
Homan.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and resided in Parsons,
Pittsburg, Scammon and most recently Columbus, KS.  He earned a B.S.
Degree at Pittsburg State University in Social Psychology.  He was a
Veteran of the Army serving as a Corpsman and earning the rank of E-6
from 1971-1977.  
In May of 1983 he married Terri L. Jordan in Parsons, KS; she survives
at the home.  Prior to becoming ill Dan was in the Furniture Restoration
and Antiques business.  He enjoyed fishing and his family was the most
important thing in his life.  
Survivors include his wife, mother, children Joshua Homan of Liberty,
MO, Jerry Homan of Fontana, CA, Jonathon Gillis of Fredericksburg, TX,
and Christopher Gillis of Columbus, KS; sisters Kathy Hunter of Ajo, AZ,
Sheryl McClendon of Tyler, TX, Lucinda Merryfield of East Sussex,
England and Shelly Billington of Chanute, KS; brother Mike Homan of
Wichita, KS; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  
He was preceded in death by his father and sister Margaret “Sunny”
Buterfield.  
Graveside Memorial Services will be 11am Wednesday February 10,
2010 at Park Cemetery in Columbus, KS with Elders Wayne Dobkins and
Don Johnson officiating.  Military Rites will be conducted by the American
Legion of Columbus, KS.  In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of
sympathy be in the form of memorials to the St. John’s Hospice.
