Thelma June Hines 91, of Pittsburg , KS died 10:44am Wednesday July
7, 2010 at her home following an illness.
June was born May 16, 19 19 in Dover , OK the daughter of Edward and
Hazel (Nelson) Ester. She moved to this area in 1953.
She attended college in Bethany , OK and finished her degree at Friends
University of Central Kansas. She was a veteran of the Navy earning the
rank of 3rd Class.
On September 9, 19 50 she married Ernest E. Hines in Wichita , KS ; he
preceded her in death on February 25, 1993 . She was a co-owner and
operator of Gregg Typewriter Company in Pittsburg , KS from
1953-1974. She also owned and operated rental property in Pittsburg ,
KS .
June was a member of the Victory Life Church . She was a member of
the Daughters of the American Revolution; loved quilting, reading,
gardening and history.
Survivors include children Sharon Compton and husband Tom of
Pittsburg, KS, Alan Hines and wife Duwana of Pittsburg, KS; siblings
Evelyn Graf of Sequin, TX, Donna and Jack Mayfield of Sequin, TX, Allen
Ester of Mulvane, KS; grandchildren Tonya Harris and husband Jason,
Cara Brooks, Stephanie and Jason Rhodes, Jonathan Hines and
Catherine; great-grandchildren Natalie, Kellie, Adam, John, JayCie and
Keaton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Alice Wentworth and
Robert Ester.
Funeral Services will be 10am Saturday July 10, 2010 at Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home in Pittsburg , KS with Rev. Donnie Talent officiating. Burial
will follow at Nashville Cemetery in Nashville , MO. Family will receive
friends from 9-10am prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends
may call the funeral home after 3pm on Friday. In lieu of flowers the
family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the
Audra Close Mission. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to
