Donald F. Hartshorn, 80 of Pittsburg died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday
September 27, 2011 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
He was born September 15, 1931 in Rural Pittsburg the son of
Elmer E. and Mable Joyce (Fowler) Hartshorn. Donald was a resident of
the Pittsburg area his entire life.
Donald was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United
States Army.
He married Carolyn Sue Miller on April 14, 1955 in Pittsburg , KS ;
she preceded him in death on August 16, 2005.
Donald worked for over 35 years for Atkinson Industries as an
electrician and machinist.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother
George Hartshorn, an infant brother and a sister Norma Nadine Whetzell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday September 30, 2011
at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Father Mike
Baldwin as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery ,
where the Pittsburg American Legion Benjamin Fuller Post #64 will
provide flag folding and presentation ceremonies. The parish rosary will
be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in
Pittsburg where the family will receive friends following until 7 p.m.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday.
