Obituaries
PITTSBURG — Harold D. Hardy, 93 of Pittsburg, died Monday,
December 5, 2011 at the Sunset Manor in Frontenac.
He was born January 10, 1918 in Moran, KS the son of Howard L. and
Jessie P. (Daugherty) Hardy.
Harold was a graduate of Pittsburg State University where he received
a Masters Degree in Education Administration.
He served in the Army Infantry Rifle Company during WWII, entering
July 2, 1941 and honorably discharged October 6, 1945. He fought in
the European Theater including the Battle of the Bulge. He was
awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
On December 21, 1941 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean
Gilliam she preceded him in death on December 2, 1979; he then was
married to Beverly K. Stacy Rupard on July 6, 1985, she survives him of
Frontenac, KS.
He worked for the USD 250 as the School Administrator form 1947 to
1985.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg,
additional memberships include the Benjamin Fuller American Legion
Post #64, Pittsburg, and the Kansas Association of Retired Teachers.
Survivors include a son Richard J. Hardy of Evansville, IN, two step-
sons: Kirk Rupard of Shreveport, LA and Greg Rupard of Pittsburg;
three grandchildren: Gregg (Naiyana) Hardy, Rebecca (Brad) Dedman
and Cindy Long, four great grandchildren: Allyse and Deanna Hardy,
Levi and Jake Dedman.
He was preceded in death by first wife Dorothy Jean Hardy, a son
Randy Hardy, a daughter Nancy Long, two brothers: Lawrence and
Kenneth Hardy, four sisters: Christine Roth, Wanda McCoy, Pauline
McMichael and Ruby Volz.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the
First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg with Pastor Jim Aikins
officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery. Family will
receive friends at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home from 6-8 pm
Wednesday evening. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.

be left at or mailed to the funeral home. Services and arrangements
