Ernest Charles Harbold, 67 of Weir, KS died at 3:15am, Wednesday,
March 10, 2010 at Girard Medical Center in Girard, KS.
Ernest was born September 30, 1942, in Goodland, KS to Charles and
Eva Mary (Sponsel) Harbold. He attended area schools, graduating from
Girard High School.
Ernest served his country in the United States Army.
Ernest was a roofer and worked construction. He later was a CNA for
Heritage Nursing Home in Girard, KS.
Survivors include his daughters Susan Mapes and husband Richard of
Pittsburg, KS, Karey Valdez and husband Arnold Patrick of Pittsburg, KS;
sons Ernest Clarence Harbold and wife Pearl of Walnut, KS and David
Harbold and wife Marie of Pittsburg, KS; sister Caroline Michael of Girard,
KS; along with 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Clarence
“Hoople” Meyer; brothers Bobby Dee and Donald Harbold and brother-in-
law Keith Michael.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Monday, March 15, 2010 at Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS with Rev. Jim Sukraw
officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg where
military rites will be given by the Ft. Riley Funeral Honors Detail Team.
The family will receive friends from noon until service time on Monday at
