WEIR — Walter Dean “Deanie” Hamblin, 66 of Weir, KS joined the Lord
on December 26, 2011
He was on December 10, 1945 born in Girard, KS the son of Leslie
LeRoy and Raydell Ellen (DeWitt) Hamblin.
On August 1, 1964 he was united in marriage to Theresa M. Melton in
Weir, she survives of the home.
Deanie graduated from Southeast High, Cherokee, KS in 1963.
He worked for Posti’s Gas Station and Wallite Manufacturing, the Weir
Grain Elevator and later became a welder and Pipefitter for the Local
Chapter 664(441). Most recently he was the water Superintendent and
maintenance for the City of Weir, before retiring in 1997.
Deanie was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge as well as a proud
Democrat debater. He loved to farm and loved his family. After his
fathers passing Deanie chose to preserve his memories of farming with
his father by purchasing the family farm in Weir, where he continued to
work the land and raise his family.
He is survived by his wife Theresa, three sons, Murle Hamblin and wife
Stacy of Pittsburg, Terry Hamblin of Larnard, KS and William “Bill”
Hamblin and wife Melissa of Frontenac, KS; 10 grandchildren Brett,
Brad, Cody, McKayla and Shadra Hamblin of Pittsburg, Cole and Hope
Hamblin of Pittsburg and Mariah, Kendall and Cooper Hamblin of
Frontenac; one great grandson Brysen Dean Hamblin of Pittsburg; Two
brothers Raymond Hamblin and wife Lois of Franklin, KS Robert “Bobby
Jean” Hamblin and wife and Sonja of Buena Vista, KS, one sister Mary
Mangan and husband Tony of Arizona, along with many nieces,
nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wanda Rice, father
and mother in-law Murle and Helen Darlene Melton.
Graveside services will be 1 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the
Hosey Hill Cemetery with Rev. Daryl Gaddy, Aaron Williams and Cathy
Garrison officiating. Burial will follow. Friends are requested to meet at
the funeral home to follow in the procession to the cemetery; the
procession will leave the funeral home in weir at 12:45pm. Family will
receive friends from 7-8 pm, Wednesday evening at the funeral home
in Weir. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Memorials
may be made to the Southern Care Hospice; these may be left at or
