Dorothy G. Gideon, 80 of Columbus died at 11:30 am Monday November
7, 2011 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
She was born September 12, 1931 in Briton, SD the daughter of Noah
and Gladys (Harding) Waits.
On June 21,1947 she was united in marriage to John D. Gideon in
Columbus, KS he preceded her in death in 1990.
Dorothy worked for KAAP as an Explosives Operator for 30 years.
She was a member of the Nazarene Church; she also was involved with
the Caring and Sharing Group and the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include five sons: Ronnie Gideon of Oswego, Bobby Gideon of
Galena, KS, Johnnie Gideon of Springdale, AR, Steve Gideon of
Pittsburg, and Jim Gideon of Bentonville, AR; two daughters: Lori Bolen
of Baxter Springs and Sheila Jespersen of Siloam Springs, AR, two
sisters: Marie Sharp of Ft. Worth, TX and Margie Castaneda of
Bakersfield, CA a half brother Paul Woods of WA along with 13
grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus with Rev. James Shipley
officiating. Burial will follow in the Edgmand Cemetery. Family will
receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8 pm Wednesday evening.
