Maurice was born November 2, 1923 in Pittsburg, KS to Henry William
and Merle (Conley) Gerwert. He attended area schools, graduating from
St. Mary’s High School with the class of 1941.
Maurice served his country in the United States Army. While serving he
was airplane mechanic. He went overseas to the Philippines and Japan.
He was honorably discharged in 1946.
On March 7, 1959, in Miami, OK, he married Jennie L. Butler. She
survives in Frontenac, KS.
Maurice was a meat cutter all of his life. He owned and operates G and B
Meat Supply in Pittsburg.
Additional survivors include his son Sam Gerwert of Ennis, TX and
daughter Peggy Gerwert of Mulberry, KS; brother Paul Gerwert of
Frontenac, KS along with 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents.
