Saturday, August 14, 2010 at St John’s Regional Medical Center in
Joplin, MO.  
 He was born July 20, 1924 in Evansville, Arkansas the son of Glen and
Ada Brooks Gaches.  He had lived in Duenweg for 8 years, moving from
Pittsburg where he lived from 1979 to 1995.  He attended Pittsburg State
University for 2 years.
 Mr. Gaches was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army from 1943
to 1946.
 He married Mary Z. Wilson on July 28, 1946 in Girard, KS and she
preceded him in death on November 11, 2009 in Joplin, MO.
 Mr. Gaches was a machinist working for the Santa Fe Railroad for 25
years, retiring in 1974.
 Membership was held in the First Baptist Church in Douglas, KS;  the
American Legion in Pittsburg and Kansas City, and the AFL/CIO
Machinist’s Union.
 Survivors include one daughter Karla D. Walters of Eldorado, KS;  five
sons, Gary Lee Gaches of Cherokee;  Larry Alan Gaches of Springfield,
MO;  Ronnie W. Gaches of Duenweg, MO;  Scott R. Gaches of Rosehill,
KS and Glen Gaches of Joplin, MO;  two sisters Ethel Beart of Pittsburg;  
and Alice Card of Kansas City, KS;  10 grandchildren;  and 14 great-
 He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a sister Mary Louise
Gaches 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
 Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home,
522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, KS with the Rev. Dan Muter, officiating.  
Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg, KS with flag
folding ceremonies by the Benjamin Fuller  American Legion Post #64.  
Pallbearers will be Gary Gaches;  Larry Gaches;  Scott Gaches;  Glen
Gaches;  Ronnie Gaches;  and Steve Gaches.  Arrangements are by the
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, KS.
