Obituaries
Helen Louise (Massey) Fontaine, 76 of Pittsburg, passed away at
10:45pm, Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Sunset Manor Nursing
Home surrounded by her loving family. She had been in deteriorating
health for the last two years.
She was born September 29, 1934 in Pittsburg, KS to Walter and
Bernice (Carlson) Massey.
She married John B. Fontaine, Sr., February 26, 1954 in Miami, OK.
Helen worked for the Benjamin Fuller Post #64 in Pittsburg for 27 years
and spent many years happily cooking for several nursing homes and for
others in their own homes after she left the legion.
She enjoyed her animals, working in her yard, and taking care of others.
Survivors include a son John B. Fontaine, Jr. and his wife Amy of
McCune, KS, five grandchildren Tommy Fontaine, Alyssa Bennett,
Michelle McClure, Kelsey Garcia, Kirsten Burke Fontaine and Ashley
McDaniels;eight great grandchildren and a great greatgrandson; three
half brothers Douglas Massey of Pittsburg, KS, Sam Massey of
Mississippi, and Ben Talley of Topeka, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Mary
Evelyn Parker and a nephew Todd Massey.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at
the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Rev. Daryl Gaddy
officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Family
will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services,
starting at 12:30 pm until service time. Condolences may left at www.
