Obituaries
      Betty V. Edwards, age 91, of Pittsburg, KS died on December 17,
2011 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac, KS. She was born
January 15, 1920 in Iola, KS to G. Sam Cain & Helen M. Smith Cain.
She came to Pittsburg when she was 7, graduated from Pittsburg High
School in 1937. From 1927-1935 she studied dance with the Monihan
School of Dance. Some of her fondest memories involved dancing on
the Colonial Theater Stage. She married H. Carl Edwards in May 1938.
They lived in Pittsburg until 1980, when they moved to Branson, MO.
After the death of her husband on August 1, 1990, she returned in
October of 1991 to Pittsburg.
      She was a homemaker.
      She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, St.
Mary’s Alter Society, Mt. Carmel Auxiliary; she served as a Pink Lady.
She was in the PEO, IO Chapter, & many other clubs and organizations.
She was an avid reader, did beautiful knitting & needle points, and
made beaded flower arrangements, & ceramic pieces of great beauty!
      Survivors include a daughter, Karla Kay Patterson of Excelsior
Springs, MO, a son, Carl Edwards of Fredonia, KS, 4 grandsons, 2
granddaughters, 5 great grandsons, 3 great granddaughters, & one
cousin, R. J. Taylor.
      Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011
at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Father Adam
Keiter officiating.  Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories
Cemetery.  Rosary will be recited at 5:30 Thursday, December 22 at
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg where the family will receive
friends following the Rosary until 7:00 p.m.  Friends may come by to
sign the book anytime after 4 p.m. on Thursday.  Condolences can be
emailed to www.bathnaylor.com  Memorials may be made out to the
Harry Hynes Hospice Care.  Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to
522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS.  Arrangements are under the direction
of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg.
