PITTSBURG — Glen R. Duncan, 86 of Pittsburg, KS, formerly of
Scammon, KS, died at 10:00pm, Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at St. John’
s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, MO.
Glen was born December 12, 1923 in rural Scammon, KS to Clark and
Minnie (Goldsmith) Duncan. He attended area schools, graduating from
Weir High School.
Glen served his country in the United States Army, during W.W. II. While
serving he was awarded 3 bronze stars clusters, the Good Conduct
Medal, expert Rifleman Badge, Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple
Heart Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 26, 1945.
On September 8, 1947, in Scammon, KS he married Adeline R. O’Malley.
She preceded him in death on July 27, 2006.
Glen was a farmer and cattleman, where he raised dairy cattle and later
beef cattle.
Glen was a member of the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon,
and later attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS.
Glen was a past member of the Weir American Legion.
Survivors include his son John Duncan and wife Becky of Pittsburg, KS; 5
grandchildren John Duncan and wife Valerie, Kirk Duncan and wife
Becky, Adam and Kyle Duncan and Chelsea Duncan; longtime family
friend Ann Scott of Pittsburg; along with 7 great-grandchildren Broderic,
Zachary, Matthew, Eli, Quentin and twins Ava and Carter.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; infant twins at birth Maria
and Glen David Duncan; two half-sisters Ethel Selby Martin and Musie
Scott Duncan and three half-brothers James and William Selby and Clark
Duncan, Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am, Monday, March 29, 2010 at St.
Bridget’s Catholic Church with Fr. Chrysostom Ah Maung as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery, where the Ft.
Riley Funeral Honor Guard will have flag presentation. The family will
receive friends from 6-8pm on Sunday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522
S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS, where a rosary will be recited at 7pm.
Friends may call the funeral home after 4pm on Sunday. E-mail
condolences may be left at our website www.bathnaylor.com. The family
suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to St.
Bridget’s Catholic Church and/or Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial fund.
