Obituaries
WEIR — J. Louise Bruyr, 85 of Weir, KS died peacefully in her sleep
March 8, 2010 at her home.
She was born April 4, 1924 in Stone City, KS the daughter of Ralph and
Mary (Marrietta) Beighey.  The family later moved to West Mineral, KS
where Louise attended & graduated from West Mineral High School.  She
went on to receive her teacher’s certificate from the Pittsburg State
Teachers College. She taught school in several one-room schools in this
area.
On June 15, 1947 she was united in marriage to Jack Bruyr; they were
the first couple to ever wed in the West Mineral Methodist Church.  Jack
preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 2003.
Jack was employed early in their marriage by Public Service Co. of
Oklahoma. Before his retirement, they had lived in Tulsa, Chickasha,
Lawton, Clinton, Broken Arrow and Oklahoma City before coming back
home to SE Kansas.
While Louise had several jobs throughout her many years of marriage,
she was known as the “Cat Tail Lady” for her unique hand crafted and
life like cattails.  These and many other crafts she showed at craft fairs
and sold from her shop, Jana Lou Creations in Weir.
She enjoyed her family, her two grandsons, sewing, entertaining, bridge
and her many organizations that she was so involved in throughout her
life.  Some of which include Jaycee Jaynes, Girl Scouts, Little Theatre
and the Newcomers Club.
Survivors include a daughter and caregiver Carole Jones of the home,
two wonderful grandsons Jeromy Averyt of Tulsa, OK and Dakota Jones
of Weir; Two loving sisters and their husbands Wilma and John Newell  of
Weir and Anita and Harold “Pepper” Martin of Pittsburg. Additional
survivors include a loving family full of nieces, nephews, cousins, great
nephews & nieces & great-great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home in Weir with Pastor Kenneth Butts officiating.  Burial
will follow in the Park Cemetery in Columbus.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home in Weir from 1 p.m. until
service time.
